Launch Initiative
- Establish medical staff wellness committee
- Begin annual hosting of national wellness experts
- Connect with wellness programs for medical students and house staff

2012

Expand Awareness
- Launch WellMD website and monthly newsletter
- WellConnect resident crisis hotline
- Send representatives to International Physician Wellness Conference

2013

Measurement
- Conduct Stanford Physician Wellness Survey (to be repeated in 2016)
- Begin to provide research guidance for physician/housestaff wellness projects
- Begin research partnerships with other institutions
 

2014

Wellness Programs
- Communicate survey findings to administration and departments
- Develop priorities for wellness interventions based on findings
- Launch Peer Support program and Mindfulness Sub-Committee

2015

Leadership Support
- Form Dean's Taskforce on Physician Wellness
- Create task-force-recommended and funded physician wellness center
- Launch Medicine & Literature Program

2016

Wellness Center
- Select center leaders/staff and identify strategic priorities
- Offer both Mindfulness and Compassion classes geared for physicians
- Submit 17 abstracts to International Physician Wellness Conference

2017






Growing Locally and Nationally
- Expand, refine and validate the Stanford Physician Wellness Survey
- Use Stanford survey results to identify unique dept./division wellness priorities
- Administer the survey nationally to members of our new Physician Wellness Academic Consortium
- Plan, sponsor and host the first American Physician Health Conference with Mayo Clinic and AMA
- Create the first Chief Wellness Officer position at a U. S. academic medical center
- Name Dr. Tait Shanafelt as WellMD Center Director and Chief Wellness Officer
