Learn from Stanford Medicine WellMD & WellPhD How to Design and Lead a System-Wide Physician Well-being Program
Chief Wellness Officer Course (CWOC)
This executive program is an annual one-week course for a small cohort of approximately 50 physician well-being leaders, carefully selected based on their role and scope, to spend an immersive week with our core faculty at a scenic location on the Northern California coast. Using the Stanford WellMD Professional Fulfillment Model™ and extensive experience of course faculty, the week includes lectures, group activities, and 1:1 sessions designed to help participants cultivate expertise in the principles and applications that contribute to physician well-being.
Target Audience
The program is designed for senior healthcare leaders with organization-wide responsibilities who have their organization’s support and resources to initiate or expand a focus on physician health and well-being across the system. In addition to physician well-being, course participants commonly oversee the occupational well-being for populations beyond physicians. The roles of participants typically include the following titles: Chief Wellness Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief of Staff, Chief Experience Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Associate Dean/Senior Associate Dean, and other senior leadership roles.
Learning Objectives
The CWOC will support participants in:
- Developing leadership skills to spearhead their organization's physician wellness efforts
- Creating components of a strategic plan that will build and sustain a physician well-being program for their organization
- Implementing principles and identifying programs that contribute to physician well-being including creating an efficient practice environment, cultivating personal resilience, and developing an organizational culture that fosters engagement and professional fulfillment
Application Process
The application for the 2023 CWOC is now open. If you are a senior healthcare leader and you have your organization’s support and resources to lead and catalyze system-wide improvements in physician well-being, we invite you to apply.
A complete application is required be considered for acceptance into this course. This this a high-demand course with limited space, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible. The application must be completed online. Applications will not be accepted by email or other means. In addition to the questions on the application link, please have the following attachments ready before you apply:
- Resume/CV
- Professional photo
- Application questionnaire (downloadable, fillable PDF)
- Letter of support from an executive leader within your organization (i.e., Dean, CEO, COO, or CMO) stating that the organization is committed to driving physician well-being as a strategic priority and that you are leading those efforts at an organization-wide level. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the course is full. After you apply, you can expect to hear from us within 15 business days.
Course Fee: $12,900.00*
Includes:
- Registration, attendance, program materials, and most meals for the course which begins with an evening reception on Sunday, July 30 at 5:00 PM and ends with lunch on Friday, August 4.
- Faculty presentations, panels, activities and small group discussions
- Access to 1:1 meetings with course faculty during daily office hours
- A library of presentations developed during the course that aggregate key learnings and aid you in accelerating commitment and change within your organization
- Network of colleagues and facilitated alumni community for one year following the course
Hotel Information:
- If you are accepted to the course, you will be eligible to book your stay at the Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay at the discounted course rate of $429/night. You may add additional nights before and after the course at the same discounted rate.
Accreditation Policy
In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Stanford Medicine is authorized to award pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for programs toward advancement or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in select programs wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report ACHE activities, log into your MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit. Please direct any questions about ACHE credits to the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Credit Designation
American Medical Association (AMA) Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 31 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
