Leading Well-Being Improvement at the Department Level

Department Well-Being Directors (DWBDs) play an essential role in helping advance physician and scientist well-being at Stanford Medicine. Commissioned by their Department Chair and trained and mentored by the Center, Well-Being Directors present survey results at departmental faculty meetings, help local units identify their highest priorities, and lead their teams toward action.

The DWBD, in collaboration with other department leaders and improvement teams, helps lead improvement efforts to address the local issues that contribute to burnout and diminish professional fulfillment. DWBDs have been appointed in all departments at the School of Medicine as well as in University Healthcare Alliance (UHA) and Packard Children’s Health Alliance (PCHA).
